Rupert Such
Rupert began his career as post production runner for Renny Harlin’s first feature film, BORN AMERICAN edited by Paul Martin Smith (STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE, JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH). As an assistant film editor, he worked on Peter Greenaway’s BELLY OF AN ARCHITECT with editor John Wilson (BILLY ELLIOT, THE HISTORY BOYS, FROM TIME TO TIME).
In 1987, he won a place on BBC Film Editing Course at Ealing Film Studios where he began his BBC career. As an assistant film editor and dubbing editor, he worked on Dennis Potter’s BLACKEYES, THE OLD DEVILS directed by Tristram Powell, DIE KINDER produced by Michael Wearing (BOYS FROM THE BLACKSTUFF, EDGE OF DARKNESS, OUR FRIENDS IN THE NORTH, COLD LAZARUS). In 1992 he was film editor on THE LATE SHOW, BBC’s Arts programme, working with directors Anand Tucker ( HILARY & JACKIE, SHOPGIRL, RED RIDING), Sharon McGuire (BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY) and Paul Greengrass (BLOODY SUNDAY, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, UNITED 93, Captain Phillips).
Rupert left the BBC in 1994 to pursue a career as a freelance director and has worked on television series such as EASTENDERS, DOCTORS, THE BILL and CASUALTY.
